The first question which the priest and the Levite asked was:
“If I stop to help this man, what will happen to me?”
But the good Samaritan reversed the question:
“If I do not stop to help this man, what will happen to him?”
– Martin Luther King Jr
It's no secret that we're waiting.
And waiting,
And waiting some more.
We knew that we would.
As we wait for our own child and see much more waiting on the horizon, we've asked ourselves how else our family can extend love and reach out to other children right where we are. After all, "If I do not stop and help his man, what will happen to him?" Sadly, we've seen that question answered and the painful results when the opportunity to stop and help is ignored or passed up.
Because of our adoption, we are not in a position where we can be a foster family. As we've made our way through many different parts of the adoption process, we've tried very hard to make sure those around us know there is something everyone can do regarding the fatherless and our mandate from God to care for them.
For now, we are pursuing volunteering with The CALL {an incredible local opportunity} ~ a ministry whose vision is to have no waiting children in Arkansas foster care. The mission of The CALL is "to educate, equip and encourage the Christian community to provide a future and a hope for the children in foster care in Arkansas." We realize not every family will/can foster or adopt. This ministry brings to light many ways people can pursue God's call to care for these children. You can clearly see several opportunities to put into action the abilities, talents, and resources with which God has entrusted to each of us. Currently, there are several volunteer opportunities in their offices in many Arkansas counties including Prairie/Lonoke County.
We would like to ask you to join us in considering serving the children of our community through this ministry. While this is not an exhaustive list, below are a few of the many ways volunteers can serve in Lonoke/Prairie County:
We are praying that God will move in the hearts of His people to step out in faith and care for the hurting children in foster care all over Arkansas. We have an incredible opportunity in our own county to reach out to these children in love just as He calls us to as His followers in James 1:27.
We hope that you will prayerfully consider the possibly of being a part of The CALL in your county.
We will be happy to answer any questions you might have. {Contact Us}
